What is Chai?

Chai.com invites you to experience our family recipe from India, perfected over many generations. Like our ancestors, we still select only the highest quality spices, and slowly dry them in the sun until the most subtle flavors are captured.  Then we hand grind them in just the right proportions to create a warm, aromatic masala whose essence is released into every cup of tea.  We provide everything you need to make chai at home including the Chai Masala (tea spices), Tea Leaves and Tea Strainer. 

Today chai is found in a variety of forms, most commonly as a liquid concentrate.  Why settle for "instant chai-in-a-box", when you can enjoy gourmet chai as it has been made and enjoyed for centuries.  And unlike many of the liquid concentrates and powdered chais on the market, our chai is free of sugars, preservatives, and milk products so you can truly enjoy chai in its purest and healthiest form.  

Chai stalls are a favorite meeting place to savor a hot, fresh cup (or saucer) of chai and discuss the day's happenings.  They are found all over India; from train stations in Bombay, to tiny villages around the country.  Chaiwallahs are the chai vendors who serve up hot chai and hot gossip.  As virtual chaiwallahs our chai stall is a place to savor authentic chai, gossip, news and information.  Enjoy!
